Statement
of Faith:
Penn Faculty-Staff Christian Forum
As
an interdenominational and evangelical fellowship of believers, we are
committed to these historic doctrines of the Christian faith:
Belief in the
eternal Triune God-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit-and belief that Jesus
Christ is the unique Son of God;
Belief that humanity
was created in the image of God but has fallen from its created state
into sin and spiritual death;
Belief that Jesus
Christ as perfect Deity and true humanity died for our sins as our
substitute and rose bodily from the dead;
Belief in the
unique divine inspiration and trustworthiness of the Bible, and that
it is the basis of our beliefs and the final authority in all matters
on which it speaks;
Belief that spiritual
life and forgiveness of sins is found through faith in Christ alone,
not through our effort or goodness;
Belief in the
presence and power of the Holy Spirit in spiritual birth and growth;
Belief that every
Christian is called to live by the power of the Holy Spirit a life
of love, fruitful service and witness of the gospel of Christ;
Belief in the
local Christian church and the responsibility of each believer to
participate in the worship and ordinances of a church home where Christ
is honored and God's Word is preached;
Belief in the
personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth to judge the living
and the dead and to consummate the eternal plan of God.
